This is an octopus I found in my front yard one day. I think this is the most successful picture I have taken. This picture has great composition, negative and positive space. The positioning of the picture is centered and octopus is lop sided. It shows lots of different shapes as well. The angle of the picture makes it more appealing to the eye. A straight on picture isn't that fun to look at. I took the picture from up above to give it a better look. I love the colors in it, they are so bright. The octopus catches your eye, he pops out. I like how it's an unusual picture, not everyone has an octopus in their front yard.Thursday, January 7, 2010

Yes, I do agree with you it does have all the things you said. I love the octopus :)
ReplyDeleteit does show a lot of positive space. I do agree that it does look better if it isn't sitting up straight in the front of the screen.
Haha this is a sweet photograph. Even though there is only one item in the frame, the various shapes and colors of the octopus keep the composition in check. And yes I agree how the angle of the photo makes the it a little more appealing because this way you can see more of the tentacles, as well as more reflection and shadow, showing its 3D effectiveness.
